The stability and vitality of any organization hinge on a successful working board. At GEAE we are blessed to have such a dynamic group of people working toward our mission and goals of activism and education. Throughout 2019 we will highlight new members of our board and advisory council.

President: Leah Manino

Leah is an Erie native with strong ties to the community.  She is an Erie Ambassador and serves several nonprofit organizations in addition to the Greater Erie Alliance for Equality, including Lakeshore Community Services, Northwest Institute of Research, H.A.N.D.S., and  Mercy Center of the Arts.  Leah is also a member of the Erie Women’s Fund and Rotary Club of Erie.  In 2015 she was recognized as one of Erie’s 40 Under 40; Rising Business and Community Leaders.  Leah was nominated President of GEAE in 2017 after joining the Board of Directors in 2013.

A graduate of Penn State University The Behrend College with a Bachelor of Science in Management she began her career in 2002 as a management trainee with Northwest Bank.  In 2016 she was promoted to Vice President- Commercial Lending at Northwest.     Leah resides in Erie with her wife, Ashley and their 2.5-year-old twin boys, Austin and Jeffrey.

GEAE Treasurer: Cody Empey

A native of the Erie, PA area, Cody attended McDowell High School and received a degree in accounting from Mercyhurst University.  He has served as board treasurer for GEAE since November 2015 and has aided in planning many of the organization’s programs.  Cody works at Erie Insurance Group as an audit specialist in the premium audit department.  Cody lives in the area with his partner, Michael (GEAE board secretary), and their two dogs: German Shepherd, Ben, and Maltipoo, Gigi.

GEAE Secretary Michael Pruzinsky 

Michael is an Erie Native and has been involved with GEAE since 2014. He originally served on the Advisory Council then transitioned to board secretary in January 2017. Michael is the Inside Sales Office Manager at Reed Manufacturing CO, where he has worked since 2003. In his free time, he enjoys running and has completed two marathons. He is a graduate of Mercyhurst University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing. In 2017 he was recognized as one of Erie’s 40 Under 40 by the Erie Reader.  Michael resides in the Erie area with his partner, Cody (GEAE board treasurer), and their two dogs.


GEAE welcomes Rachel Lohr to the GEAE board:

Born and raised in Titusville, Rachel completed her undergrad at Clarion University where she was a member of Allies, the LGBTQ club, Kappa Kappa Psi, the band fraternity, and Sigma Alpha Iota, a national music fraternity for women.She worked at SafeNet until attending grad school online at Edinboro for her MSW. Rachel spent this last year working with GEAE, completed a successful and dynamic internship, before being voted onto the board. Rachel currently works with Pyramid Healthcare as a D&A Clinical Counselor and she is a Beachbody Coach.
